The Bold and the Beautiful's Zack Conroy (Oliver Jones) will take his B&B character for a small trip north to Genoa City on B&B's sister soap, The Young and the Restless. Yes, Oliver will make the crossover from the big city of Los Angeles to lend his photography talents to the new fashion division of Jabot Cosmetics.
In actuality, Conroy's trip isn't anywhere near the 1,500 miles you might think. He'll simply report across the hall, as The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful are filmed on the same lot in Los Angeles.
Conroy's character will only be in Genoa City for two days, but the actor is very excited to see his character make the crossover to a new soap. Conroy tells Soap Central, "This is a great opportunity. It will be fun to bring the character to a new place and work with a new set of characters. I've known a few of the actors over there for a long time and should be a good time working with them."
The actor further suspects the crossover came about when Y&R needed a photographer and naturally took advantage of the sister soap connection. As Conroy says: "Oliver has done it all and worked his way up the company and now he's looking to make a name for himself outside of L.A. It's great that CBS is able to move characters from show to show like this."
Of course, in true soap style, Conroy was only able to tell us a few clues about what to expect to see for his character's time on Y&R. "I don't know a whole lot yet, but it sounds like Oliver will be mixing it up with Summer and Mason. There will definitely be some photographs taken... " he says.
When asked if he sees longtime potential for crossing over again to the sister soap, he replied: "Possibly. We'll see how the character fits and go from there! I'm a fan of the show and excited to see what they have in store."
This move marks Conroy's first appearance on Y&R, but the actor is no stranger to lending his talents to multiple soaps. Conroy's first daytime role was a small part on As the World Turns back in 2008 as Leo Morrisey, followed by his role as James Spaulding for Guiding Light from April 2009 to the show's end in September of that same year. In 2010, Conroy earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actor category.
Conroy has been with the Bold and the Beautiful for over three years, making this character his longest-running role yet, now with crossover appeal for two soaps.
Stay tuned to Y&R to find out more.
Conroy makes his first appearance on May 21 for two days and starts taping scenes on April 17, right before the actor celebrates his birthday on April 19. Happy Birthday, Zack!
