It's been nearly three months since word of Sean Kanan's impending return to The Bold and the Beautiful first broke. Well, the waiting game is almost over: this week, (Deacon Sharpe) is back.
Back in March, Kanan wrapped up his long-time, off-and-on work on ABC's General Hospital when his alter ego, A.J. Quartermaine, met with an untimely demise. A few weeks later, Kanan reported back to work at B&B.
"From day one of being back, it was so comfortable and familiar," Kanan said during an April 25 visit to Soap Central Live. "Everyone was so incredibly welcoming. Everybody from Brad Bell on down. It's a great work environment. [I'm] really happy to be there."
Kanan first appeared as Deacon Sharpe in November 2000. He remained with the show for five years before exiting. When Kanan stepped back into Deacon's shoes in 2009, it wasn't as part of the B&B cast -- it was on the show's sister soap, The Young and the Restless. Over the next three years, Kanan crossed back and forth between the two shows. His most recent appearance as Deacon was in October 2012 on The Bold and the Beautiful.
While Kanan began his daytime career on General Hospital, the actor has often said that Deacon has been his favorite role.
"I think he's a guy that definitely has a lot of foibles," Kanan said with a laugh during his SCL appearance. "He's an ethically challenged guy. There's this little component of him that tries to adhere to this sort of strange code of honor that he's created for himself. He really does want to be a good father to his daughter, but he just can't ignore the devil that's on his shoulder."
Kanan and Deacon's big return takes place on Friday, June 13.
