Fred Willard has been tapped for a four-episode stint on The Bold and the Beautiful. The comedic great will play John Forrester, the younger brother of Eric Forrester and dad of Ivy Forrester.
According to TVGuide, Willard's character is a "a traveling salesman-inventor and quite the party boy." John drops by Los Angeles to see his daughter and to reconnect with Eric.
Willard has a résumé full of memorable comedic performances. On television, notable guest spots include Roseanne, Mad About You, and Modern Family, which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. In film, he's appeared in Anchorman, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Best In Show.
It isn't known yet if Willard's role will provide comic relief -- or if there will be soapy drama attached.
Willard reports to work on August 27, and his episodes will air in early October.
