The Bold and the Beautiful's Maya (Karla Mosley) and Nicole (Reign Edwards) have had their fun, but all will soon come to a screeching halt, because their old-school parents are about to hit the canvas.
A B&B rep confirms to TV Guide that veteran actors Anna Maria Horsford and Obba Babatundé have been cast as Vivienne and Julius Avant, who are headed to Los Angeles to take Nicole away from the city and her sister's perceived negative influence.
"Maya's past comes flooding into her present when she is faced with the parents who rejected her," a rep for the show teases. "We will begin to see how Maya became the woman she is today amidst many obstacles and prejudices."
Says Horsford, who's best known for her work in the comedy series Amen and The Wayans Bros. but also starred as Guiding Light's Clara Jones, "This reunion of the Avant family has opened my heart on so many levels. I personally know several transgender people but I never really thought of things from the parents' perspective. The audience has heard Maya's point of view about what went on in the family. Now it's time to get Mom and Dad's side of things!"
Horsford debuts on Friday, July 3. Meanwhile, Babatundé, who may be known in the daytime world from his roles as All My Children's Rusty Bennett and The Young and the Restless' Carter Campbell, will debut on Thursday, July 9. Both are scheduled for 15 episodes, though there's a chance their time with the soap could be extended.
