Sy Tomashoff, a winner of a whopping seven Daytime Emmys for his work on The Bold and the Beautiful, Dark Shadows, Ryan's Hope, and Santa Barbara, died in his Los Angeles home on Sunday, July 28. He was 96.
Born September 11, 1922, in New York City, Tomashoff served as a rifleman under General George S. Patton in World War II and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and a Bronze Star for valor.
Tomashoff spent thirteen years as a production designer on The Bold and the Beautiful. For his work on B&B, Tomashoff won Daytime Emmys in 1988, 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994.
In addition to his work on B&B, Tomashoff is also known for creating the spooky sets for Dark Shadows. Tomashoff also worked on Capitol, The Edge of Night, NBC's Santa Barbara, and ABC's Ryan's Hope, for which he won his first Daytime Emmy in 1981.
Tomashoff is survived by his wife, Naomi, with whom he celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in May; sister Judith; daughters Ivy and Liz; son-in-law Jeff; grandchildren Samuel and Ahleea; nieces Maud and Maggie; and nephew Jeremy and his wife, Maritza.
