Charles Shaughnessy (Shane Donovan) is headed back to Salem this fall, according to a Days of our Lives spokesperson. The rep also confirmed that another favorite -- Patsy Pease (Kimberly Brady) -- will be joining him.
"DAYS is a great bunch of people," Shaughnessy told Soap Opera Digest earlier this month. "If DAYS is interested, and they see some kind of story, or some way of having Shane involved, yeah, I would go back. It's work and it's fun work. I'm proud of my work on DAYS. Shane was a character the show created, and I helped create. Shane became a historic character. What's not to enjoy about that?"
In July, Pease took to Facebook to announce her DAYS return, but the NBC soap declined comment on the actress' announcement until now.
Charles Shaughnessy first appeared as Shane in 1984. He remained with the show through 1992 before exiting. He's returned for guest appearances over the years, most notably in 2002, 2010, and May 2012.
Shaughnessy is also known to primetime viewers for, among numerous guest spots, his role as Maxwell Sheffield on The Nanny. Elsewhere in daytime, Shaughnessy appeared as Alistair Durban on General Hospital.
Pease originated the role of Kimberly in 1984. She remained with the show through 1990, but has made numerous guest appearances over the years. It's been three years since Pease's last appearance in July 2010.
Pease and Shaugnessy will both be back on-screen for the November Sweeps period, but DAYS has not revealed it their alter egos will return to Salem together. The length of the pair's returns has also not been disclosed.
