Exciting news for Days of our Lives' Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady; ex-Lucky Spencer, General Hospital): the actor has landed a role on Queen Sugar, a new series slated for Oprah Winfrey's network, OWN.
Internet buzz placed Vaughan at the series' recent table reading, an audition tape of the Texas native vying for the role of Calvin (shown below) only fanned the flames that he'd joined the anticipated series, and finally the actor confirmed it himself via an Instagram post that simply reads, "Let the Magic begin."
Picked up by OWN early last year, Queen Sugar is a drama series based on the novel of the same name by Natalie Baszile. The story follows the lives of two sisters: Nova Bordelon (Rutina Wesley), a tough journalist and activist from New Orleans, and Charley Bordelon (Dawn-Lyen Gardner), a mother who uproots her life in Los Angeles and moves herself and her teenage son, Micah, to Louisiana to claim an inheritance from her recently departed father -- an 800-acre sugarcane farm.
Winfrey will have a recurring role on the series, which began production this month, and other stars include Kofi Siriboe, Tina Lifford, Omar Dorsey, All My Children alum Dondre Whitfield, and Timon Kyle Durrett.
