He may be front and center on Days of our Lives, but Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) has still managed to find the time to cowrite a dramatic film in which he'll be starring early next year.
Deadline reports the Minnesota native has been collaborating with Banshee and Quarry actor Tyson Sullivan on Willowbrook, which will be directed by Matthew Huston.
Willowbrook follows a young mother who dies of cancer, leaving behind a young daughter and a bereft husband. Soon after her death, the wife's one-time boyfriend returns to their hometown, only to create havoc within the family.
News that Flynn is delving deep into a film of his own creation will no doubt fan the flames of the rumor that the actor has opted out of his contract at the NBC soap opera. Sources say the Emmy-winning actor finished taping in October -- which is a surprise, considering he announced last May that he was staying put at DAYS.
As fans may recall, shortly after news broke that Marci Miller was exiting the role of Abigail and Kate Mansi was returning as a temporary recast for the character, Flynn tweeted that he wasn't going anywhere.
"Pssstttt... I'm staying," he wrote along with the hashtags #days and #lovehard.
To be fair, Flynn also revealed at the time that the decision to stay or leave wasn't an easy one, which left him "on the fence" -- especially considering he teased that he was beginning work on a new film in October.
"I am shooting a film in October so was on the fence, but it all worked out," he wrote earlier this spring in response to a question about if he was leaving DAYS.
It's unclear if the actor was referring to Willowbrook (which is now scheduled to start filming this February in New York state) or another film he's taking part in. At this time, his IMDb page doesn't cite any other film projects.
DAYS has yet to comment on the rumor that Flynn has left the role of Chad, so keep checking back to Soap Central for updates as they come.
