Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) has confirmed rumors that he is no longer on contract with General Hospital.
"Hey friends, I am still at GH and will continue to be," Anderson informed fans via Twitter. "Recurring isn't a bad word. keep watching, great stuff is coming!"
Soap Opera Uncensored first reported that Anderson had been bumped to recurring, but it appears now that it was Anderson's decision to not renew his contract with the ABC soap.
The timing is, however, suspect, since Anderson's alter ego is involved in one of GH's big storylines: the secret involving Maxie's baby. Under executive producer Frank Valentini, General Hospital has been known to give ample story to non-contract players. It remains to be seen how much -- or how little -- of Spinelli fans will see in the weeks ahead.
The drop to recurring will allow Anderson to pursue other projects outside of daytime. In November 2010, Anderson landed a role in a primetime pilot, and fans feared the actor might exit the show.
Anderson made his GH debut in November 2006. In those six-and-a-half years with GH, Anderson has received four Daytime Emmy nominations. He received his first nomination in 2009, and he is again nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category this year.
