General Hospital alum Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda Barrett) has set the Internet on fire with her latest Instagram post, not only because she actually included five fire emojis but also because she teases she has some pretty major news to announce in the weeks ahead.
The über popular star, who hasn't been seen in Port Charles since 2013, teases that she'll soon be dropping some important information, so fans should probably stay tuned.
"Big new announcement coming in the next two weeks!" she enthuses along with a black and white photo of herself that appears to be from her early soap days.
Unfortunately, there's no hint as to what Marcil's huge announcement might be -- which has spurred thousands of soap opera fans to hope that she might be making a return to GH. However, it's entirely possible that the actress could be announcing something entirely unrelated to soap operas or even something personal.
There's also the possibility that her announcement is related to daytime but not General Hospital specifically. After all, Marcil recently did a guest-starring stint on CBS Daytime's The Talk, so perhaps she's headed back to the program or she so impressed the powers that be at the network that she's been scooped up by a CBS soap opera!
Everything is speculation at this point, so it looks like fans will have to wait for more from Marcil herself when it comes. Let the two-week countdown begin!
UPDATE: (Otober 17) A birthday tweet sent to Marcil by her former GH co-star and Port Charles flame, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), has many fans convinced that the actress is indeed returning as Brenda Barrett. The message reads: "Happy birthday Brenda I mean [Vanessa Marcil] see you soon"

It's not a definitive tease that Marcil is on her way back to Port Charles, but it does thicken the plot!
