You may have noticed that in the Internet age, it's really hard to keep a secret -- but General Hospital is giving it a go with the casting of a high-profile actress in a hush-hush role.
The ABC soap has cast Alien alum Veronica Cartwright in a top-secret role. Entertainment Weekly reports that the actress will appear in a "special, five-episode arc" starting sometime in early July.
"[T]he writers want to make her arrival a surprise," EW reports.
There is one other hint about who Cartwright might be playing. General Hospital released a photo of Cartwright in a scene opposite Emmy winner Maura West (Ava Jerome). Does that mean Cartwright's character is related to Ava? Will most of the actress' scenes be opposite Ava? Or could this photo be an attempt to throw clever soap fans off the scent?
So far, no one's saying.
In addition to appearing in Alien, Cartwright was most recently seen as a fortune-teller in Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She got her start in the breakout role of Rosalie Wells in the 1961 film The Children's Hour. Her other silver screen projects include Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Witches of Eastwick, and The Birds. She may be best known for playing Lambert in the 1979 thriller Alien. Cartwright has appeared in numerous television series during her career. One of her better-known roles was Assistant District Attorney Margaret Flanagan on L.A. Law.
