As General Hospital viewers recently saw, Nina Reeves's (Cynthia Watros) dreams came true when she married Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) on his private island in Puerto Rico, surrounded by a few of their children and their grandson. Nina couldn't have been happier, but within minute,s that wedded bliss was threatened by an explosive secret with the power to rip everything that she holds near and dear away -- especially her cherished daughter, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen).
As Nina danced with her guests, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) learned from a contact that Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) had reported Michael's mother Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and his uncle Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) for insider trading. It took seconds for Michael to connect the dots right back to Nina, and he quickly got the confirmation he needed when he surreptitiously recorded Martin admitting that Nina had been behind the anonymous tip.
So, what exactly does Michael intend to do with the information? Cynthia Watros offered some insight when she recently talked to Soap Opera Digest about what comes next for Nina. The actress revealed that Nina returns to Port Charles, still on cloud nine from the nuptials and the good place that she's in with her daughter. Meanwhile, Michael is all set to go to Sonny with the damaging information, but he has a change of heart and opts to confront Nina instead. Initially, Nina denies the accusations. "But then there comes a point where she just looks at him and says, 'What do you want?'" the actress shared.
According to Watros, Michael wants control over Nina's access to his wife. The demand will be a tremendous blow to Nina, who finally had everything that she has ever wanted -- a loving partner and a relationship with both her daughter and grandchildren -- in the palm of her hand, only for Michael to rip it away. Watros explains that even though Michael has Nina in a tight spot, Nina thinks that she can explain away her actions to Willow. That is, until Michael points out that Nina's actions sent Drew to prison where he was attacked and nearly died. Michael will also remind Nina that Sonny would not be pleased to learn about Nina's role in what happened to Drew and the high price that Carly paid to avoid a similar fate.
"He's just so angry and so mad at Nina and can't get past that rage to actually see that Nina is trying really hard and she's really not that bad," Watros said. She went on to suggest that Michael wasn't thinking clearly. Watros shared that Nina would implore Michael not to go to Sonny with the information because Nina is terrified that Sonny would leave her if he learned her secret. "Sonny doesn't like secrets, even though he has some secrets," the actress explained.
To Nina's relief, Michael has no desire to take away his father's happiness, but Michael's silence would come with some conditions. Watros noted that Michael has all the power, and it benefited him to keep Nina's secrets. "So right now, Michael knows, and Martin knows, and Ned's (Quartermaine; Wally Kurth) walking around there, and who knows what's going to happen if he gets his memory back?"
Watros acknowledged that Nina was between a rock and a hard place, but she admitted that she loved playing that.
