It's been 30 years since Jon Lindstrom shocked General Hospital viewers by appearing as Dr. Kevin Collins -- identical twin brother to notorious serial killer Dr. Ryan Chamberlain. Kevin arrived in Port Charles, hoping to study his evil twin, who had been vanquished and sent to Pentonville to pay for his homicidal crime spree. What was supposed to be a short-term stint as Felicia Scorpio's (Kristina Wagner) psycho stalker turned into a three-decade run on the ABC soap opera, thanks to positive reactions from the fans and the addition of Ryan's sane twin brother, psychiatrist Dr. Kevin Collins.
On December 3, 2023, Lindstrom took to social media to mark the 30th anniversary of his second role on GH. In the Sunday morning video message, the actor explained that he'd been traveling a lot, but he woke up that morning to see that it was the 30th anniversary of Kevin's debut on GH. "I had no idea. I knew that it'd been a long time, but 30 years since the doppelgänger to Dr. Ryan Chamberlain was introduced," Lindstrom said in amazement. "It's like an entire career right there, and I've enjoyed every minute of it," he shared. Lindstrom acknowledged that there were a lot of people who had helped him along the way, including Wendy Riche (ex-executive producer) and Claire Labine (ex-head writer).
However, it's former General Hospital head writer Michele Val Jean that Lindstrom credited with helping him to develop and bring to life Kevin, and they have remained friends ever since. "There's been a lot of blessings around this for me and don't think that I don't know it," he assures fans. "Thank you, world, for supporting Dr. Kevin Collins -- and Ryan Chamberlain, for that matter, and I'll do it for as long as they'll have me, really," the actor said.
Kevin wasn't confined to just one soap. From June 1997 to October 2003, Lindstrom's alter ego appeared on the GH spinoff Port Charles.
Lindstrom also shared an exciting update about his novel Hollywood Hustle. The pre-order link of the audio version of his book -- which he narrated -- had dropped. "I hope you like a Hollywood crime story with a high body count," Lindstrom teased.
So grateful today for my 30 years of "Kevin Collins" (and "Ryan Chamberlain") on @generalhospital & for the wonderful journey my life has been, for my friends, my the family and incredible opportunities I've had. Hope you all have much to be grateful for. #GeneralHospital... pic.twitter.com/B1jw0gSd3J
