Ten dollars might not be much, but gracing a $10 bill is priceless. As the United States gears up to release the new $10 bill featuring a woman's face, (which will happen in 2020, with real-life nominations happening now), Soap Central thought it would be fun to imagine a few female soap opera characters who could take the place of Alexander Hamilton. It's a literal face-off, so read our nominations then vote for your favorite below!
Erica Kane (All My Children)
Erica Kane wrote the book on having it all, so why shouldn't she grace a $10 bill in addition to her many achievements? She's also the queen of soaps, which gives her extra money-gracing credibility.
Maya Avant (The Bold and the Beautiful)
B&B's Maya is setting new standards in the soap world, but why stop there when she could set new standards in the world of money, as well? She's conquered the whole "first female transgender on soaps" thing, so it would make sense to nab the title of "first female transgender on money" thing, too.
Victoria Lord (One Life to Live)
Llanview's leading lady was once a president, but nobody needs to know it was just of Llanview University. She'd make one heck of choice to feature on the new $10 bill. In fact, some would say seeing her face in the financial world would be quite heavenly.
Anna Devane (General Hospital)
Anna has been upholding the law of the land since the mid-80s, fighting for peace and justice any way she knows how. What better way to award her for her decades of public service than to feature her face on ten-spots across the nation?
Katherine Chancellor (The Young and the Restless)
Y&R's Katherine was one fierce dame and pretty much made all of Genoa City bow down to her every demand. She was the epitome of female strength, making her quite an option. Of course, even if she didn't get the honor, she could always just buy it for herself (which is kind of how the political world works anyway, right?).
Stephanie Forrester (B&B)
If anyone could whip men into line, it was B&B's Stephanie Forrester. She ruled the CBS soap's characters with an iron fist, which would make her more than qualified to stand beside George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. (Bonus: She'd also probably have the best facial expression out of any other contender, having posed for an unforgettable portrait that still pops up in story long after she passed away.)
Hope Brady (Days of our Lives)
DAYS' Hope leads her life according to the law, and her years of decency (which she shows most of the time) have got to count for something, right? Law and order with a side of money.
Bianca Montgomery (All My Children)
If a big heart, compassion, and a true desire to better the world (or at least Pine Valley) isn't enough to qualify someone to be the face of moolah, we don't know what is.
Phyllis Summers (Y&R)
She may be a little bit on the crazy and intense side, but Y&R's Phyllis is one passionate woman who fights like hell to get what she wants -- a quality every politician who's graced US money has shared. Plus, she has a history in politics: she worked for the Jack Abbott campaign for state senate. Score!
Laura Spencer (GH)
They say behind every great man is a great woman: George Washington had Martha, Bill Clinton had Hillary, and Luke Spencer had (who else?) Laura. Her portrayer, Genie Francis, says the character should be running Kelly's diner, but we think she should be running the $10 bill, instead. Order up!
