The upcoming seventh season will be the last call for ABC's Station 19. The series, which stars former Sunset Beach star Jason George, will wrap up after airing just over 100 episodes.
Deadline first reported the series' cancellation, but states that the series will get a proper wrap-up because the decision was made early in the abbreviated television series. Due to the WGA and SAG/AFTRA strikes, the upcoming season of Station 19 will have just ten episodes.
Station 19, a spinoff of the long-running medical drama Grey's Anatomy, will move to a new timeslot for its final season, leapfrogging from 8pm to 10pm. There will reportedly be just a single crossover episode between the two soaps.
Jason George, who appeared as Michael Bourne in more than 300 episodes of Sunset Beach between 1997 and 1999, stars as Ben Warren. George got his start on Grey's Anatomy before moving over to Station 19 when the series debuted.
In addition to George, Station 19 also stars Jaina Lee Ortiz, Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Alberto Frezza, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre, Miguel Sandoval, Boris Kodjoe, Stefania Spampinato, Carlos Miranda, Josh Randall, Merle Dandridge, and Pat Healy.
No reason has been given for the cancellation. Station 19 ranks as ABC's second-most watched drama series, behind Grey's Anatomy. The hashtag #DoNotCancelStation19 trending for hours on X, formerly Twitter, after the cancellation announcement was made. A petition asking ABC to reconsider its decision collected more than 17,000 signatures in under 48 hours.
Season 7 of Station 19premieres Thursday, March 14, 2024.
