The Young and the Restless is about to trim another role from its cast, hinting that even the top-rated CBS soap is not immune from the belt tightening that has been sweeping the daytime television industry. CBS has trimmed $2 million off the licensing fees of each of its soaps, a move that has forced them to do some cash crunching.
"On a sad note, I just found out that I will be leaving Y&R," Enos said. "[My exit is] just another casualty of budget cuts. I had a great run and I thank the producers, writers, directors, cast and crew for making my stay the best ever."
"[Enos' dismissal] is strictly a budget consideration," Y&R's co-exec producer and head writer Jack Smith said. "John is a talented, classy, professional actor and we love working with him. This had nothing to do with John's performance level or portrayal of the character."
Enos joined the cast of The Young and the Restless as a sleazy strip club owner in April 2003. Enos will make his final on-screen appearance on August 10th.
