The Young and the Restless' Alicia Coppola (ex-Dr. Meredith Gates) is continuing to make quite a name for herself in the world of primetime. Not only did she nab a series regular role on the CBS series Blood and Treasure earlier this summer, but she also just landed a recurring role on the FOX hip hop drama Empire.
According to Deadline, Coppola will play "a smart, flamboyant attorney investigating Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and international money launderer Damon Cross (Wood Harris). She'll do almost anything for big target convictions because she believes they'll take her to the Governor's mansion and then the White House."
Created by Lee Daniels and Daniel Strong, Empire centers on a fictional hip-hop music and entertainment company and the drama among the members of the founders' family as they fight for control of it. The premise began with a hip-hop mogul having to choose a successor among his three sons who are battling for control over his multimillion-dollar company, while his wife schemes to reclaim what is hers.
Coppola's résumé includes roles on Jericho, Trinity, Cold Feet, Bull, American Dreams, NCIS, Common Law, and Shameless. In addition to starring as Victor Newman's (Eric Braeden) prison doctor on Y&R in 2016, she played Another World's Lorna in 1991.
