In a new interview with men's magazine GQ, All My Children's Michael B. Jordan (ex-Reggie Montgomery) opens up about his soap opera start, sharing that he both appreciates and somewhat regrets his time on the former ABC series.

He has since gone on to star in big budget films like Fruitvale Station and the upcoming Rocky sequel, Creed, but he says accepting the daytime gig was a risk. "I knew that it was a chess move," he says of the job, a role he played from 2003 to 2006. "You work on a show like All My Children -- we all know what it is but you're still able to grow outside of it. It's the perfect situation. I learned, I grew as an actor, I worked with professionals, I got paid."

But the actor admits that he was playing a part he knew he didn't want to repeat again in his career: "No dad, no mom, a fu*king stereotypical black role in a soap opera," he explains of his Pine Valley alter ego. "I saw the stereotype, so moving forward I was like, 'Nah, those are the roles I don't want to play.'"
