Life is good for All My Children alum Cornelius Smith Jr. (ex-Frankie Hubbard). Shortly after landing a role on the much-anticipated Netflix series Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker, he has landed a recurring role on God Friended Me.
The CBS series follows Miles Finer (Brandon Michael Hall), a podcaster who is vocal about his disbelief in God and is therefore thrown when he receives a friend request on a social networking site from the Almighty.
TV Insider reports that Smith Jr. has landed a five-episode arc as Corey Smith, the estranged son of Alphonse Jefferies (Carl Lumbly), who "has a deep tie to the God Account." With Corey's help, Miles is going to take a big step closer to unmasking the person behind this mysterious social media account -- which means Corey plays a pivotal role in the final five episodes of the series' second season.
God Friended Me airs Sundays at 8/7C on CBS.
Cornelius Smith Jr. played the role of AMC's Frankie Hubbard from 2007 to 2011, earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for his work on the ABC soap in 2009. He went on to make a name for himself in primetime playing the role of Marcus Walker on Scandal, but his other credits include Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Forever, and Major Crimes.
