Stunt man and actor Geoffrey Scott (ex-Mark Jennings, Dynasty; ex-Sky Rumson, Dark Shadows; ex-Billy Lewis, Guiding Light) has passed away at the age of 79. His wife, Cheri Scott, confirmed that he died of Parkinson's disease on February 23, just a day after his birthday.
Soap fans will remember Scott from a variety of iconic dramas, one of which is Dark Shadows. In 1970, the Hollywood native played Schuyler "Sky" Rumson, a wealthy publisher who married Angelique Bouchard (Lara Parker), all the while hiding his allegiance to the Leviathans, an ancient race of beings bent on conquering the Earth for their own purposes as they had once, before humans existed.
Scott is perhaps best known for starring on Dynasty from 1982 to 1984, playing Mark Jennings, a tennis pro who was the first husband of star Linda Evans' character, Krystle Carrington. Mark was brought to Denver by the conniving Alexis Colby (Joan Collins) after she learned that Mark and Krystal's divorce years earlier wasn't legal. But it wasn't just his entrance that was manipulated by Alexis. She played a big role in his exit, as well. As fans may recall, after Mark saved Alexis and Krystle from a fire, he became Alexis' bodyguard. He was later pushed off a terrace to his death -- and Alexis emerged as the prime suspect.
Scott also briefly appeared as Guiding Light's Billy Lewis (who was usually played by Jordan Clarke) in 1994, and played the role of David McAllister on General Hospital in 1989.
Outside of soaps, Scott can be recognized from high-profile commercials; he played the Marlboro Man, an Old Spice sailor, and a cigarette aficionado who "walked a mile for a Camel" at the Taj Mahal, and he starred in a series of spots for Maxwell House coffee with Margaret Hamilton.
His other acting credits include Where the Heart Is, Baywatch, Night Court, Kojak, and Murder, She Wrote, as well as the first season of HBO's football comedy 1st & Ten. Scott eventually retired from acting and moved to Colorado with his family, but before doing so, he played the president in the 2003 Eric Bana film Hulk.
Scott married Cheri Catherine Scott in 1983. They had twin sons, Christopher and Matthew. He also had a daughter, Shannon, with his ex-wife/high school sweetheart, Tanya Thompson.
