One Life to Live alum Florencia Lozano dealt with some pretty heavy material while she was playing the role of Téa Delgado, but her latest project pushes even deeper into heart-wrenching emotional territory. The actress co-wrote and stars in Life After You, which follows a suburban family's devastation after their son unexpectedly dies of a fentanyl overdose.
The movie is inspired by the book Life After You: What Your Death From Drugs Leaves Behind, which was written by Linda Lajterman, who lost her 19-year-old son Danny to a fentanyl overdose. Lozano stars as Linda opposite Jake Ryan Lozano as Danny, and Gary Perez as Danny's father, Tito.
"There was just no way I could turn this down," Lozano shares in an interview with Soap Hub. "As an artist, I wanted to help in any way I can."
Though the film is deeply somber, Lozano says that she and co-writer/director Sarah T. Schwab sought to include positive moments in the story, as well. "That was the challenge when we were writing it," the actress explains. "We asked, 'How do we tell this story without making people shut down?' We need to have hope, joy, and comfort [in the film] to keep people watching and to keep them fighting this epidemic."
She continues, "I hope people feel less alone when they watch this movie. I learned during this movie that the opposite of addiction is community. The opposite of isolation is connection. We want to get the word out so that other kids don't suffer the same fate [Danny did]."

Florencia Lozano played the role of OLTL legal eagle Téa Delgado on-again, off-again from 1997 to 2013. She also appeared as the character on General Hospital in 2012. Some of her other credits include Narcos, Kevin Can Wait, Gossip Girl, The Blacklist, Madame Secretary, and The Enemy Within.
