With seven nominations apiece, Guiding Light and General Hospital led this year's field of acting nominations for the 30th Annual Daytime Emmys. Every soap -- except for Passions -- scored at least one nomination. It would seem that the overhaul to this year's nomination process accomplished its goal: to provide every soap opera with a fair chance to earn Emmy nominations.

All My Children and As The World Turns, two soaps that have had a virtual stranglehold on the nominations over the past two years, each grabbed three nominations this year.

All My Children newcomer Aiden Turner (Aidan Devane) joined previous nominee Rebecca Budig (Greenlee Smythe) and previous winner Josh Duhamel (Leo duPres) as All My Children's nominee's this year. A former AMC star, Cady McClain (ex-Dixie Martin) earned a Supporting Actress nod for her new role on CBS's As The World Turns.

One of the most surprising results in this year's nominations was the success of the two half-hour soaps, Port Charles and The Bold and the Beautiful. CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful has done extremely well in recent years, with Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester), Adrienne Frantz (Amber Moore), Justin Torkildsen (Rick Forrester) and Jennifer Finnigan (Bridget Forrester) all bringing home gold over the past two years. For Port Charles, though, Emmy nominations have been few and far between. Last year, Brian Presley (Jack Ramsey) earned a nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actor field. Though he received a pre-nomination this year, Presley did not make the final cut. His real-life wife (and co-star) Erin Hershey Presley (Alison Barrington) and their on-screen nemesis, Kelly Monaco (Livvie Locke and Tess) did received nominations, in the Younger Actress and Supporting Actress fields, respectively.

More impressively both The Bold and the Beautiful and Port Charles earned Outstanding Drama Series nominations. It was the first nomination for both in this category.

Though dogged by cancellation rumors for years, Guiding Light shined in this year's nominations. The success should make CBS and the show's producer, Procter & Gamble Productions, quite pleased. Kim Zimmer (Reva Shayne) has a chance to pick up her fourth Emmy while fan-favorite Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny Santos) earned his very first nomination this year.

Days of our Lives avoided being shut out again this year. Kyle Lowder (Brady Black) earned his first Emmy nomination this year with a nomination for Outstanding Young Actor.

Both of The Young and the Restless' Outstanding Lead Actress pre-nominees made it to the final ballot. Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) earned nominations. Stafford is a previous winner, but this marked Davidson's first nomination. Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin), a two-time nominee, and David Lago (Raul Guittierez), also a two-time nominee, were Y&R's other nominations.

General Hospital once again earned a heaping of nominations. For years, General Hospital - along with CBS's The Young and the Restless - seemed to dominate the Emmy Awards. This year the ABC soap returned to the party with seven nominations. The nominations, while enough to make any GH fan pleased, will be especially sweet because many of the performers receiving nominations are considered "fan favorites." GH's fan fave nominees include Vanessa Marcil (Brenda Barrett), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis).
