Greenlee, Aidan, Kendall, and Zach waited in the hospital waiting room for news on Annie's condition. Just as Kendall proclaimed that Annie was faking, a doctor entered the room and announced that Annie had a miscarriage. Greenlee, Aidan, and Zach looked sad, but Kendall commented that the miscarriage was probably for the best. Zach looked at his wife with disdain.
Ryan tried to console Annie, but she was overly distraught. She told him that she committed murder and he looked confused. She proceeded to blame their baby's death on herself. She affirmed that she focused on Ryan, instead of the baby, and believed that caused the miscarriage. He urged her not to blame herself, but she was consumed with guilt. She explained that she used the baby as a way to win Ryan back. She admitted that she faked morning sickness and dizziness. She also confessed that she staged her car accident. He looked shocked. She cried as she opened up about being jealous of Greenlee, and using Emma and the unborn baby to repair their marriage. She wished that she cared more about the baby than fighting for Ryan. He silently stared at her, so she asked if he hated her. He said that he was trying to understand why she lied. She told him to get out of the room because she did not want him there. He was apprehensive about leaving her, but she insisted on being left alone.
Ryan walked into the waiting room and glared at Kendall. Ryan then told Greenlee, Aidan, Kendall, and Zach that he needed time alone. However, Aidan sensed that Greenlee wanted to console Ryan, so he encouraged her to talk with Ryan. Zach saw this and commented that Aidan did a nice thing for Ryan by letting Greenlee comfort him. Zach then told Aidan that he knew Aidan helped hide Josh. Zach warned Aidan that Josh better not return, so Aidan promised that Josh would remain hidden. Then, Kendall went to see Ryan, but Zach stopped her. He told his wife that Ryan did not need her. She noted that Ryan needed his friends, and he asked her if she was being a "friend" when she stormed into Annie's room and upset her. Kendall looked sheepish and left. Kendall went home and cried as she held Ian in her arms.
Annie lay in her hospital bed as Richie's ghost appeared. Richie asked his sister why she did not tell Ryan the whole truth about her lies, including her attempt to kill Greenlee, and his murder. He assumed that she did not divulge everything because she would lose Ryan and Emma forever. He claimed that she could still win Ryan over by killing Greenlee and Kendall. Annie yelled out that she was done with Richie. He replied that she needed him, but she strongly disagreed. She closed her eyes and chanted that Richie was dead and gone. When she opened her eyes, Richie's ghost was gone.
Greenlee found Ryan alone in an empty hospital room. He was deeply saddened by the loss of his child. He admitted that when Annie first got pregnant, he did not want the child. He further stated that when he saw the baby's ultrasound, he fell in love with his unborn child. With tears in his eyes, Ryan declared that he was a terrible person because he constantly hurt the people he loved, including Greenlee. Greenlee reminded Ryan that she played a big role in the destruction of their marriage. Greenlee then grabbed Ryan's hand to console him.
Randi begged Frankie not to go to Iraq. Frankie said that he had to finish his tour in Iraq because it was his duty. Randi stated that Frankie did not have to go, and offered to run away with him. She tried to entice Frankie to dodge his call to duty and go to Canada.
He explained that, when he first returned from Iraq, he felt lost. He said that he felt like an imposter living in someone else's life, until he met Randi. Randi noted that Frankie saved her life and she wanted to return the favor by stopping him from going to war. He promised that he would return to her.
Angie and Tad were having a drink at ConFusion. She confided in him her fears that Jesse was in danger again. Tad laughed and called her paranoid. She explained that Jesse was getting multiple hang-ups on his cell phone and on their house phone. She worried that Papel was behind the phone calls. Tad assured her that Papel was in a maximum-security prison, which made it impossible for him to mess with Jesse. She agreed that Papel was not behind the phone calls, but wondered who was. She then revealed to Tad that Jesse had a nervous breakdown while he was on the run. She was concerned that her husband was slipping away from her emotionally. Just then, Jesse returned to the table. Angie asked where he went, but he refused to answer. Angie informed him that he received another hang-up on his cell phone while he was gone. Jesse warned Angie to stay away from his phone. Tad gave Jesse a suspicious look.
Jake walked into Amanda's bedroom on the yacht and found Taylor standing next to an elegantly set dinner table with expensive flowers. Taylor did not realize that Jake had entered the room because she was daydreaming about her late fiancé. When she finally saw Jake, she looked embarrassed. She explained that Amanda left to get crab dip, but would return. Jake wondered if Taylor wished she were going back to Iraq, like Frankie. She declared that she would go back to war in a heartbeat and criticized Frankie's hesitation to return. Jake asked why she was not allowed to return, since her ankle was fully healed. She divulged that the army doctor diagnosed her with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Jake assumed that she had the disorder because she witnessed the death of her fiancé. She was offended by the diagnosis and called it sexist.
Amanda then entered and Taylor left. Amanda sensed that the conversation between Taylor and Jake was "intense" and questioned Jake about his feelings for Taylor. Jake avoided answering the questions by kissing Amanda. They were about to make love when Jake was paged to the hospital due to Annie's miscarriage.
Greenlee and Aidan woke up smothering each other with kisses. Greenlee said she knew how Annie was feeling after losing a baby. She said friends and family sent flowers, gave sympathy, and tried to make her feel better. But Greenlee said it did not replace the loss of a child. Greenlee said the thought of losing another child was the reason she did not want any more children.
Meanwhile, Kendall and Zach did not touch each other when they awoke. Kendall told Zach that she knew he blamed her for Annie losing the baby. Zach said he was only angry that Kendall would not leave Annie alone in the hospital. Kendall acknowledged that she should have left Annie alone, but wanted to continue protecting Ryan. Frustrated, Zach threw back the covers and got out of bed.
Babe and JR checked on Annie before she left the hospital. Babe asked Annie how she was holding up. Annie said she was sad, but ready to go home. Ryan came into the room, but JR was immediately protective of Annie. Annie said she wanted to speak to Ryan alone. Ryan offered to take Annie back to the Chandler home, but she wanted to go with Babe and JR. Ryan asked Annie how they would break the news of the miscarriage to Emma. Annie preferred to tell Emma the news alone. JR rushed to Annie's side when she got lightheaded. He and Babe told Ryan they needed to take her home. Babe and JR left Annie alone once they got her home. JR said he was positive Adam wanted to steal Fusion for them. He went out to try to get some answers from Adam. Annie remembered crying in Ryan's arms when the doctors told them the baby was gone. Emma rushed into the room to see Annie.
Kendall and Greenlee arrived at Fusion, where Amanda and Randi were busy working. Amanda showed Greenlee and Kendall the final bottle of Bella perfume. Also, they looked over different images of Amanda to use for promotional advertisements. Babe said orders had exceeded their estimates already. Amanda said the only problem was they would have to double their order to meet the demand, but she did not invest enough money into the product, meaning Fusion would have to foot the rest of the bill. Kendall refused to invest any Fusion money into the product yet. Babe came to work as Kendall explained that they needed to quadruple the order for anticipated future sales. Kendall decided it was worth the risk and agreed to help finance the rest of the money. Greenlee noticed Kendall's snippy attitude. Kendall said she and Zach were having problems. He was after Josh and she blamed herself for Annie's miscarriage. Kendall did not know if her marriage would ever be right again. Kendall went to put papers on Babe's desk and saw a text message on Babe's phone from JR. The message told Babe that Adam was "playing dumb regarding the Fusion takeover."
Zach was surprised to see Ryan come to work. But as Ryan began to work, he thought about the argument he had with Annie at the Chandler mansion before she was rushed to the hospital. Zach asked Ryan if he wanted to share what was bothering him. Ryan said Annie was released from the hospital, but she did not want anything to do with him. He wished that Annie would let them mourn the baby together. Zach urged him to be with Annie. Ryan went to see Annie and Emma. They decided to tell Emma the news together. Annie explained that the baby got sick and God took it to heaven. Emma asked if God would take her to heaven, too. Ryan said she would not be going to heaven for a long time because she was a healthy girl. Ryan told Annie and Emma that he wanted to plant a tree in the park in honor of the baby.
Erica told Luke that she wanted to get back to New Beginnings as soon as possible. In fact, Erica said she had a list of guests already in the works. Luke worried that Erica's show would not make the ratings it had before she went to jail. Luke said he was thinking of canceling her show. He said that her ratings were highest when Erica and Jackson were battling it out on the air. Erica was not interested in revisiting the past with Jackson. Luke suggested they try to find Erica the perfect mate on her show. Erica said she would prove to Luke that she could generate her own high ratings.
JR found Adam trying to eavesdrop on Erica and Luke at the restaurant. JR told his father he was having second thoughts about Babe's ability to take over Fusion on the inside. JR said Babe was not ruthless enough to handle the responsibility. But JR was not sure how to tell Babe he did not want her to be in charge of the company. Adam said JR should give Babe more credit because she had created a new product, brought in financing, and shown incredible marketing skills. He was sure Babe would make a name for herself. JR thanked Adam for the advice, and left.
Petey snuck into the Chandler mansion looking for Adam, but instead, he ran into JR. Petey said he wanted to see Colby, who changed her phone number after he sent her too many text messages. JR said Colby was not interested in him. He warned Petey to stay away from Colby and kicked him out. Petey called Adam to tell him that the first batch of tainted ingredients for Bella was ready.
Greenlee decided to express her concerns about Kendall's behavior to Zach at his work. Zach said he was tired of Kendall worrying about others people's lives instead of her own.
Kendall immediately confronted Babe about the text message. Babe said she and JR suspected Adam wanted to take over Fusion. Babe said JR met with Adam, but obviously, did not get any information, which explained the text message. Kendall told Babe that she wanted JR to back off because he was not trustworthy. Kendall said she would take care of the situation herself. She went to get advice from Erica. Kendall told her mother Annie lost the baby and suspected Adam was trying to take over Fusion.
Babe went home to tell JR that Kendall saw his text message. Babe said she ratted out Adam to keep the heat off her and JR.
Carmen was extremely happy and giddy as she dusted Adam's living room. Adam inquired why Carmen was more "demented" than usual. She cheerfully announced that it was her birthday. She was very excited because she had a boyfriend to share the day with. Adam was unimpressed and did not wish Carmen a happy birthday. She was not fazed and affirmed that she would have the best birthday of her life.
Kendall asked Erica to seduce Adam. Erica was appalled by the request and refused to do it. Kendall explained that Adam was trying to take over Fusion. Kendall wanted her mother to "cozy up" to Adam, so she could keep a watchful eye on him. Erica wondered if Adam was making a play for Fusion as a way to get closer to her. Erica informed Kendall that Adam had recently proposed to her. Kendall pleaded with her mother to help save Fusion, since the company meant a lot to Kendall. Erica called Adam a snake and agreed to help Kendall.
Erica had her stylist send couture dresses to her hotel room. Opal arrived and saw the dresses. Erica divulged that one of the dresses was a birthday present for Carmen. Opal could not understand how Erica tolerated Carmen since she started dating Jack. Erica snapped and yelled out that it was wrong of Carmen to pursue Jack. Then, Erica picked out a sexy dress for herself. Opal wondered whom Erica planned to wear the ensemble for and Erica slyly smiled.
Jack met with Greenlee at the Yacht Club to ask for her advice on the birthday gift he wanted to give Carmen. Jack displayed multiple pieces of expensive jewelry for Greenlee to peruse. Greenlee laughed over how nervous Jack was about giving Carmen a gift. He stated that Carmen made him happy. Greenlee noted that Jack smiled more with Carmen than he did with Erica.
Opal saw Jack and assumed that he was at the Yacht Club to see Erica. Jack explained that he was there with his daughter. Jack further stated that he was dating another woman. Opal thought that Jack was using Carmen to make Erica jealous. He affirmed that his relationship with Carmen was "real and sincere."
Adam called Pete and asked him to bring his chemical concoction, Blast, over to the mansion. Adam planned on putting Blast into the first shipment of Bella.
Dre visited Colby at the mansion. Colby congratulated Dre on being exonerated in Richie's murder. Pete then arrived and began hitting on Colby. Colby bluntly told Pete that she was not interested in him. Colby and Dre tried to ditch Pete and went into the backyard. Pete was frustrated, so he left the bottle of Blast on a table and ran after Colby. Pete told Colby that he would not leave her alone so she could hook up with Dre. Colby and Dre rolled their eyes in disgust.
Carmen was opening a birthday card and got a paper cut. She screamed in pain and freaked out when she saw it was bleeding. Adam heard the commotion and told Carmen to relax, but she would not stop yelling. He saw the bottle of Blast on the table, but thought it was peroxide because it was in a peroxide bottle. Adam proceeded to clean her cut with Pete's chemical. Just then, Pete, Colby, and Dre entered the room. Pete realized that Adam treated Carmen with Blast and informed Adam of his mistake. Adam was annoyed that Pete carelessly left the bottle on the table.
Carmen fainted, so Dre and Colby wanted to call 9-1-1. Adam and Pete told them not to as Carmen awoke. Carmen claimed that she felt fine, but she began to act like she was drunk. Adam tried to calm Carmen down, but she was unstoppable. She stated that she was hot and jumped into the pool with all of her clothes on.
Erica arrived at the mansion and was alarmed to see Carman acting very oddly. Colby explained that Carmen got a paper cut, but Erica did not understand why a minor cut resulted in her strange behavior. Nevertheless, Erica presented Carmen with a dress for her birthday. Carmen thanked Erica profusely and told Erica that she was her best friend. As Carmen changed into her dress, Erica gave her a dirty look.
Jack came to pick Carmen up for her birthday dinner. Carmen approached Jack with her dress on backwards. Erica urged her to put the dress on properly, so Carmen left the room. Jack questioned Erica's motives for giving Carmen a present. She claimed that she was trying to be nice, but he was skeptical. Carmen returned and saw Jack had a present for her. She grabbed the gift and opened it. She loved the bracelet Jack gave her. Erica saw the piece of jewelry and commented that Jack outdid himself. Erica watched Jack and Carmen leave for dinner with tears in her eyes.
Adam saw Erica alone in his living room. He stared at her butt and then playfully slapped it. Erica scolded Adam. He laughed and said that he thought she was Carmen. She hit him with her purse.
Babe and Amanda were very enthused that the first shipment of Bella arrived at Fusion. They drank champagne to celebrate. Kendall warned them not to get cocky, but Greenlee congratulated them. Kendall told Greenlee to stop being so nice because it made Kendall look bad. Greenlee suggested that Kendall stop trying to control everything, including the situation with Ryan. Kendall affirmed that it was in her nature to be controlling. Then, Kendall informed Greenlee that Adam was plotting to take over Fusion. Greenlee laughed because she did not think Adam wanted a cosmetics company. Kendall warned her partner that Adam was a serious threat. Kendall revealed that she enrolled Erica's help. Greenlee thought that putting Erica and Adam together would lead to disaster.
Adam told Pete that his "men" were taking Blast to Fusion, so they could taint the perfume. Pete insisted on tainting Bella himself, since he created Blast. Adam did not think that Pete was competent enough to pull off the scheme. Adam then turned his back and Pete ran off with Blast. Adam was furious.
Pete went to Fusion and found the shipment of Bella. He opened a box, and just as he was about to enact his plan to taint the perfume, Amanda grabbed him. She exclaimed, "You're busted!"
Kendall assured Greenlee that Erica would find out if Adam planned to steal Fusion from them. Greenlee said she had no idea how Adam would steal the company unless he bought their shares. Amanda demanded to know why Petey was going through Fusion's merchandise at the loading dock. Petey introduced himself to Amanda. He said he was looking for Annie and tried to scurry off. But Amanda was quick to shove him into the Fusion office before Kendall and Greenlee. Petey told the girls he came to Fusion looking for Annie because he wanted to intern with the company. Kendall and Greenlee said they had no positions, not even internships, available for him. JR escorted Babe to Fusion as Petey left. Babe said Petey had been hanging around the Chandler mansion frequently to be near Colby, even though she had no romantic interest in him. Babe said Petey seemed to be getting chummy with Adam. Greenlee immediately went after Petey, while Kendall told Babe that Petey wanted a job with Fusion. However, Kendall suspected Petey was working for Adam. Greenlee hauled Petey back into the office so Kendall, Babe, and she could offer Petey an internship, after all. Once Petey was gone, Kendall said hiring Petey was the perfect chance to find out if he was working for Adam to steal Fusion.
Petey went to the Chandler home to find Colby. She asked Petey why he was spending so much time at her home. Petey said he wanted to just be her friend. Adam found Petey to discover what products had been tainted. Petey said he got caught before destroying Fusion's latest perfume shipment. But the Fusion girls did offer him a job. Adam liked the idea because it would allow him to possibly ruin more perfume bottles.
Erica was shocked when Adam smacked her rear at his home. Adam apologized and claimed that he thought it was Carmen's backside. Erica balked at the idea that she and Carmen shared any similarities in their body types. Adam asked why Erica was still at his house if she was so offended. Erica said she was going to be on her way soon. Adam asked Erica if Jackson and Carmen's relationship bothered her. Erica said she was happy her two friends were enjoying each other's company. Plus, Erica said she was not one to go chasing after a man. But Adam disagreed. He said Erica pursued him both times they were married. Adam asked Erica out to dinner, but she declined. She said a true gentleman asks a woman on a date in advance over the telephone. Before Erica made it out the door, Adam called her and properly asked her out for dinner. Erica decided to accept his offer. When she opened the door, Jackson and Carmen were kissing. They broke apart and Carmen sang "Happy Birthday" to herself as she went to bed. Erica told Adam she would see him in an hour for dinner, and left.
JR and Babe briefly greeted Adam and Erica when they arrived home. After Erica left, JR tried to console Emma, who was upset that Ryan left her. He offered her a bowl of strawberry ice cream. Moments later, Emma's tears were gone and she was off to the kitchen. JR and Babe went upstairs after making love. JR decided to surprise Babe by asking her hand in marriage again.
Angie told Tad that she believed Jesse was lying to her. She said that the mysterious phone calls would not stop. Also, Jesse told Angie he had to work at the police station late, but she later discovered he had been out of the office all day with orders not to be disturbed. Tad asked Angie what she wanted him to do to help. Angie wanted to hire Tad to investigate Jesse, but Tad was not comfortable spying on his friend. After seeing the distressed look on Angie's face, Tad decided to see what he could find out for her. Jesse came into the apartment and invited everyone to dinner. While Angie refreshed her makeup, Jesse asked Tad what he and Angie were discussing before Jesse arrived home. Tad said he wanted to make sure Angie was okay. Jesse warned Tad to stay out of his life, but Angie was angry Jesse would even speak like that to one of his good friends. Tad decided to take a rain check on Jesse's dinner invitation. Angie said that she was worried Jesse's past was coming back to haunt him.
Ryan, Emma, and Annie went back to the Chandler mansion after planting a tree in honor of Ryan and Annie's deceased baby. Emma asked Ryan if the tree had grown yet, but Ryan said it would take several years for the tree to be big and tall. Ryan gave Emma a hug before she left to get ready for bed. Annie told Ryan she would need to find a new home and go back to work soon. Ryan said she would adjust well to the changes. Annie asked Ryan how he was handling everything. She grabbed his hand, but Ryan pulled away, wished her goodnight, and left.
Ryan went to work with Zach to get his mind off Annie. Kendall went to see Zach, but he had gone home already. Kendall tried to push Ryan to let his feelings out, but Ryan wanted to be left alone. Kendall pleaded with Ryan to at least confide his feelings in a trustworthy person. She went home to have a long discussion with Zach about how he told Greenlee their marriage was suffering. Ryan ran into Greenlee while having a drink at ConFusion. He said he did not know how to deal with the loss of his child, watching Emma's world be turned upside down, and not spending enough time with Spike.
Erica told a disbelieving Opal that she'd seen Opal's son Pete at the Chandler house more than once, and Opal chalked it up to his crush on Colby. Erica warned her that his visits might have more to do with Adam. Opal promised that she would rein her son back in and then shifted gears to compliment Erica on her choice of evening attire. She hoped that Erica's sights had been reset on Jack, but Erica surprised her when she revealed that she would be dining with Adam. Since she couldn't understand it, Opal tried to talk her best friend out of it, to no avail.
Adam and Pete conferred over their next steps for contaminating the stock of Bella perfume that had been delivered to Fusion. Adam was wary of the internship the young man had been hired for, and felt that perhaps the women had become suspicious. Instead of taking a risk, he instructed Pete to taint the perfume before they had a chance to stop him.
Although Opal tried to stop her, Erica answered the door to her suite when Adam arrived and invited him in. The mogul somewhat jokingly sparred with both ladies before Erica thanked Opal for the visit. Opal told her best friend that she had no intention of leaving the two of them alone together, but Erica assured her that all would be fine. She picked back up on her spar with Adam, and Opal realized it was a lost cause and exited the room.
A short time later, Erica and Adam made their way down to a table in the Yacht Club's outdoor dining area. Although they danced around some small talk and Adam paid Erica an undue amount of compliments, none of it distracted Erica from the thunder that continued to roll in. Adam rambled on about how much he loved storms and remarked that the more violent the storm, the better. Erica tried to keep up the façade of her bravado, but her nerves refused to give her any peace. After the thunder boomed a few additional times, she jumped up out of her seat and ran for cover. Adam ran after her and said that although her fear was long-standing, it was irrational, and confessed to a few of his own. He told her of his greatest fear - that of letting anyone get too close - and then told her that he didn't want to be alone.
When Babe hesitated after hearing his marriage proposal, JR stuttered about how he'd gotten wrapped up in the moment and had asked too soon. Babe interrupted him and accepted. A short time later, they rejoiced over the idea of once again planning a wedding. Babe remarked that perhaps the fourth time would be the charm, and JR told her that this wedding would be different because it would be forever. As they talked more, JR realized that he hadn't gotten her a ring and plotted to fly around the world until he found something perfect. She told him it wasn't necessary, and he told her that all they had to do was keep their eye on the prize and they could have it all.
JR then went off on a tangent and talked about how wildly successful Babe would be once Bella took off and people in the business world took notice. Before he could get more accolades out, all of the lights in the house went out. They went to the window, and JR could see that Stuart's lights were still on. He indicated that a fuse had probably blown and went to the lower level to attend to it. Babe went to a nearby table to locate matches so that she could light a candle. She lit it, and as she turned to the window, she spotted a specter in the window. Annie revealed herself in short order and apologized for startling Babe. Babe chalked it up to an unexplainable lingering fear, even though she knew that Richie was no longer alive. She then told Annie that she sometimes felt that Richie was still around, and that he watched her as he planned to do her harm. Annie told Babe that she understood and felt similarly, especially after having lived a lifetime with a man she felt was a master manipulator.
Aidan placed a call to his wife and left a message that told her he had a surprise for her, and asked her to hurry home. Meanwhile, across town, Ryan held hands with Greenlee at ConFusion and pondered aloud why it always seemed that when he was emotionally destroyed, she found him and made him feel better. He then realized the power of what he'd said and tried to blame it on the alcohol he'd consumed. Greenlee walked away, but Ryan, unable to stop himself, followed her. He told her that he had planned to leave, but didn't know where he belonged. He told her how the loss of his baby made him feel, and then launched into how empty his life felt beyond that because he knew he was in love with her. She slapped him sharply, and told him that he needed to stop.
Greenlee reminded him of how he'd ripped her apart when he drove over the cliff and let her believe he was dead, and said that the baby she carried was the only way that she was able to hold herself together. She told him that she fell apart when she lost the baby, and then suffered all over again when he casually walked back into her life and effectively said that she'd grieved needlessly. She then said that she knew he wasn't drunk enough to forget that they had agreed to leave those feelings in the past, as she had moved on and was in love with Aidan. He agreed, and she told him that she could no longer be the person he turned to because it wasn't fair to him, to Aidan, and, most of all, to her.
Zach asked Kendall if she was happy in their marriage and if their family gave her enough in life. She acted slightly offended at the question, but he felt it was one he should have asked her long ago. She swore to him that she loved him, their children, and their life together, but Zach had reservations. He asked her when the last time was that they did anything that was just the two of them, and she told him they had time like that every day. He reminded her that lately, all she talked about was everyone else's business and how she was involved. Incensed, she compared what she'd done to the fact that he'd discussed their marriage with Greenlee. Zach saw great disparity in the comparison and realized that if he moved forward, he would be stuck in an argument that he didn't want. He told her as much and, in retaliation, she told him that he should feel free to take his accusations and talk them out with Greenlee.
Kendall told Zach that she felt like he would be happier if she told him that she had a problem, but she said that nothing was wrong. He continued to push, so she told him that he'd made her angry when he went behind her back and talked to Greenlee instead of coming to her. She then said she felt like he went to Greenlee as a way to seek revenge because she went to Ryan for help with Josh. Zach told her that Greenlee had been the one to approach him and that they were both worried about her. Kendall didn't seem to buy it, but declared once again that she was happy with how they were and then said that to celebrate, she would go out - alone. She grabbed her belongings and stomped out of the door, but briefly had second thoughts once she was on the other side.
Tad arrived at the Smythe-Devane household with food that Aidan requested. In return, Aidan had agreed to do Tad a favor and was stunned when Tad asked Aidan to steal the phone records of the chief of police. Aidan immediately thought he was joking but when Tad didn't crack a smile, Aidan asked for more information. Tad told him about Jesse's weird behavior and Angie's concern. After he listened to all of the information, Aidan asked if anyone considered the possibility that Jesse might be carrying on an affair. Tad denied the possibility that Jesse would fight as hard as he did to get back to the love of his life, only to break his vows. Aidan, more removed from the situation, felt like they couldn't disregard that option, but Tad launched into a litany of alternate reasons and begged Aidan to consider those instead.
Ryan apologized for all he'd said and told Greenlee to forget everything. He turned and walked out of the bar, and left her alone with her churning emotions. A few moments later, Kendall showed up and the women came face to face. Greenlee immediately said that she didn't want to discuss Kendall's issues with Zach and instead asked if Kendall had seen Ryan. Kendall told her that she ran into him when she went to visit Zach at Cambias earlier in the day. Greenlee then asked if her name had come up and Kendall reluctantly admitted that it had. Greenlee laid into her best friend for continuing to wind Ryan up, only to send him in her direction. She reminded Kendall that she was blissfully married and said she thought Kendall was, too. Kendall balked at that and said that she was, but Greenlee fired back that if she were happy, she would be with Zach instead of at the bar.
Instead of answering, Kendall shot back that Greenlee wasn't with her husband, either. Greenlee ignored the quip and told Kendall that she needed to stop pushing Ryan at her, but Kendall was firm in her belief that Ryan and Greenlee would always be pulled toward each other because that was where they belonged. Irate, Greenlee told Kendall that if she valued their friendship, she would stop insisting that Greenlee put Ryan's happiness and well-being in front of her relationship with Aidan. She went on to tell Kendall that if she was so concerned about Ryan, she should take care of him herself. Kendall haughtily accepted the challenge and stormed out of the club.
When Pete returned home, his father called him into the sitting room and asked where he'd been. Pete filled him in about his internship at Fusion and marked it as the real world experience he would need to stay ahead of the other students once he went away to Harvard. Their conversation was interrupted when Opal barged into the house and, once she found the two men, bellowed about Pete spending time at the Chandler house. Pete confessed to his crush on Colby, and in response, his father grounded him and took away his car keys. Pete proclaimed how unfair the ruling was and after he ran upstairs, Opal remarked that she hoped Palmer had made the right decision.
A little while later, as Opal tried to shake off the bad feelings the storm brought to her, Pete managed to sneak out of the house. He made his way to the Fusion docks and started to open the cases of Bella so that he could add Blast to the bottles.
Annie assured Babe that they no longer needed to be afraid of Richie, but just then, lightning cracked and a figure showed up outside the patio doors and rattled the handles. The doors finally opened and they were relieved to find that JR had gotten caught outside. He told them that he thought a transformer had blown and that it would be hours before the power would be back on. He then asked Babe if she'd shared the good news, and when he realized she hadn't, JR told Annie that he and Babe would be getting remarried. Annie acted pleased and told them that she was happy, and, unable to resist, the couple locked lips. Annie cleared her throat and they realized that they should probably retire themselves and their public displays of affection for the evening. As nature's lights continued to flash outside, they bid Annie good night.
Ryan returned to the place he used to call home, but when he took in its emptiness, it seemed not much more than a mere four walls. He lay on the couch as the storm raged on outside, unaware that Annie was nearly mimicking his movements under the Chandler roof. As she took a seat upon the couch, she was taken slightly aback when a breeze kicked up from somewhere and extinguished the flame on the only candle Babe had lit.
Greenlee finally arrived home and realized in the middle of her stream of consciousness rambling that Aidan had set up a romantic scene of candles and dinner. He explained what he'd gotten for her and why, and she proclaimed that she didn't deserve it. He insisted that she did, said that he was committed to giving her all that and more, and sealed it with a kiss. They forgot about the food, and made love by candlelight.
Zach went back to the living room and found his wife with Spike and a packed suitcase and asked where they were going. Kendall told him that with the baby lost and Annie and Emma out of his house, she felt it was better that Ryan not be alone. She asked if he could understand that Ryan needed his son, and Zach did, but said he couldn't understand Kendall's needs. Unwilling to battle again, she instructed him to listen for their son and stalked out of the house.
As Greenlee lost herself in thought while her husband slept, Zach assured his son that his mother would be home soon. While Kendall delivered her oldest son to Ryan, Annie battled her brother's voice in her head and subsequently ran out onto the patio and damned him back to hell. As she went back inside, an unknown person watched her through the glass. Across town, Opal laid out her tarot cards and was frightened for her son's welfare when she laid the last card down. At the same time, Pete finished tampering with the products and, as he prepared to go, he touched a metal pole just as lightning struck, and absorbed a massive electrical volt.
