Three-time Daytime Emmy nominee Scott Clifton (ex-Dillon Quartermaine) will join the cast of One Life to Live in January. He will portray a school teacher known only as "Schuyler." The role had already been cast, but Clifton's decision to sign with One Life to Live apparently made show execs rethink their plans for Schuyler. It is unclear exactly how the storyline for the character has been altered, but an ABC spokesperson states that the role has been "reconceived" to allow Clifton to take over the role. The single-named character will have ties to a character who recently appeared on the show.
Clifton's addition to the One Life to Live cast has been talked about ever since the actor was spotted at OLTL's New York studio several weeks ago.
Clifton appeared on General Hospital from April 2003 to July 2007, when the actor opted to exit the show. During his run with the show, Clifton earned three consecutive Outstanding Younger Actor nominations at the Daytime Emmys.
Meanwhile, former One Tree Hill star, Brett Claywell, who had originally been cast as Schulyer, will not be leaving the show. Claywell will remain with the show, but he'll be shuffled to a new role -- an unnamed police officer. It's not known if Claywell's new role will be as prominent as the one for which he'd originally been hired.
First airdates have not been announced for either actor. Clifton began taping on December 8 and will first air January 8.
