Justin Deas seems to turn every role he touches into something memorable. The unprecedented six-time Daytime Emmy award winner has used his flair for comedic timing and keen sense of drama to win over audiences on stage and on television for many years.
Due to his father's travels, Justin grew up all over the Eastern seaboard, and in places as far abroad as Mexico City and Teheran. He attended William and Mary College and received the bulk of his theatrical training with John Houseman's advanced class at the Juilliard School in New York City.
Justin has played a wide range of Shakespearean roles, among them the Duke in Measure for Measure at Washington DC's Folger Theater Center and Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet at Minneapolis' Guthrie Theater. For the Dallas Shakespeare Festival, he had leading roles in A Comedy of Errors and The Tempest. He also appeared in New York City as Brutus in the Brooklyn Academy of Music production of Julius Caesar and in the title role in Hamlet at the Manhattan Theater Club.
He was seen on Broadway in The November People, played Kenickie in the first national company of the hit musical Grease, and played the lead in the Seattle ACT production of Streamers. Justin has also acted off-Broadway in Porno Stars at Home and in the world premiere of Beth Henley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Crimes of the Heart.
On daytime television, Justin has performed on Ryan's Hope as Bucky Carter. He won his first of four Emmy awards for Best Supporting Actor as attorney Tom Hughes on As the World Turns in 1984; two as attorney Keith Timmons on Santa Barbara in 1988 and 1989; and in May 1994 for his portrayal of Buzz on Guiding Light. He also earned the Emmy award for Best Actor in 1995 and 1997 for the same role.
Justin was born on March 30, 1948, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, and is married to actress Margaret Colin. They are the parents of two young sons.
